Flat pry bar
Remove Shingle Above the Damaged Shingle
Each shingle is sealed with six nails. In order to remove the damaged shingle, you need to lift up the shingle above the damaged one. With the pry bar, lift up the shingle above, and pull up the nails. When learning how to patch an Orlando shingle roof, once you lift from the sealer strip you will see the first row of nails.
Remove Damaged Shingle
Once the shingle above is removed, slide the pry bar under the damaged shingle, and lift upward. The nail should pop up, and once you see it lift up pull out the nail. Repeat this step with the next three nails. After all eight nails have been removed pull out damaged shingle.
Place New Shingle
Once the area is clear, place the new shingle in and secure it with roofing nails. After the new shingle has been replaced, you can place the shingle above, and secure it with roofing nails.
