Spring is almost here and what better way to start the season than having an Orlando Roofer checklist to make sure your roof is in tip-top shape? Follow these 4 easy items on the list and your roof will be as good as new.
It’s that time of year again where we start cleaning our closets, living room, basements and any room that is decluttered in our home but an area that goes unseen and forgotten is our roofs. Your roof needs a little sprucing up as well and today we are sharing our Orlando roofer checklist to spring cleaning.
In September we talked about roof maintenance tips for fall and we talked about cleaning out the gutters. Because Florida has so many trees surrounding our homes falling leaves will cause a clogged gutter not allowing the water from the rain to flow down as it should. After a long Autumn and Winter season, it is the perfect time to clean them out once again. Make sure all pathways are clear and check for any wear and tear on the gutter. If you notice any rust that might also be a sign that your gutters need to be replaced.
Do you have any trees surrounding your home? If so, when was the last time you trimmed the branches? Branches that are hanging over your roof may be scraping the shingles as they brush against it. As you trim the branches check on your roof to see any debris on the roof and look for signs of trees that could fall on your home during a storm. Always be cautious when climbing on the roof. This may be a job for your Orlando roofer.
Fungus & Algae
Trimming the branches will help the moisture on your roof; we want to prevent fungus and algae. If you have removed the debris from your home and find signs of fungus algae and moss there are ways to asses the situation. You can spray wash your roof with a 50% mix of water and bleach. But you should avoid pressure washing your roof because they will likely damage your shingles.
Replace Missing Shingles
Have you noticed any missing shingles on your roof? No worries we’ve written a blog post dedicated to teach you how to replace any missing shingles. Spring clean your roof by repatching any missing ones to make your home look and feel new. Although we do recommend hiring a professional to take care of repatching your shingles you can definitely take on the challenge and do it well.
Spring cleaning from your Orlando Roofer is not as hard as you may think. At Over The Top Roofers, we will help you have a safe and sustainable for you and your family.
